Course Introduction
Course Description
This course covers everything about Smart Key Systems (Push Button Start) on Hyundai and KIA Vehicles.
KIA and Hyundai started using smart key system before 2010. Comparing to common immobilizer systems, smart key system provides much more features, but at the same time it is more complex as well.
There are many components used on smart key systems, and each one of them can cause an issue, so understanding the system and components operation is very necessary. In this course, we explain each single component one by one, for location, operation, wiring diagram and diagnostic.
There has been some changes on smart key system on Hyundai and Kia vehicles over the years, and these changes can make the smart key system diagnostic a little complicated, so in this course we explain every changes and differences, and we show you all that on the wiring diagrams too.
Not only all components diagnostics are explained and the wiring diagrams for each generations are explained, but also the diagnostic procedure using a scan tool is shown too. We show you how to test the smart key system with scan tool, and how neutralize and how to program the keys.
Here is the list of components and features covered in this course:
– Start Stop Button
– Smart Key
– Smart Key Holder
– Smart Key Control Module
– Power Distribution Control Module (PDM)
– Electric Steering Column Lock (ESCL)
– Low Frequency antennas
– RF (Radio Frequency) Receiver
– Smart Key warning Messages
– Smart Key wiring Diagrams
– Smart Key Diagnostic with scan tool
– Common fault codes diagnostic procedure
By the end of this course you will:
– Be able to identify and locate all component of smart key system on any Hyundai & KIA vehicle.
– Be able to explain the smart key system operation.
– Be able to read and analyze the smart key system wiring diagram.
– Be able to identify the different generation of smart key system.
– Be able to diagnose the smart key system.
– Be able to test the smart key system using a scan tool and program the keys.
– Be able to understand the smart key system warning messages.
